Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is expected at the Wednesday “registration”? What do parents/players need to bring? How is this different than the registration they’ve already completed?

Wednesday’s registration is to receive the athlete’s camp jersey that will be used to by the evaluators. It will also serve as an opportunity to answer any questions and confirm their first ice session.

Athlete Medical Information Sheet will be required prior to first ice time.

  • There are two “registration” times on Wednesday - which one to attend? What time does the evening one start? What is dynamic warm up after?

With 106 athletes registered for the camp having 2 registrations will hopefully prevent a log jam at the player / parent meeting scheduled Wednesday night at the YK Arena.

Athletes only need to register once. Registration is available from 1-2pm at the Multiplex and 6-7:30pm at the YK Arena

  • What will be covered in the parent meeting?

Introductions to Team NT coaching staff, introduction to the evaluators, introduction to Mental Health tools and resources, expectations for the camp, a camp schedule overview and a question and answer period.

  • What do they need to bring every day? (Gym clothes, runners, snacks, OWN water bottle, hockey gear, etc?)

Players will need their full hockey gear including neck guard.
Gym clothes for their warm-up and cool down.
Water bottle
Snacks will be provided but if there are food allergies than bringing personal snacks is recommended.

  • What time are they expected to arrive/pick up each day?

Athletes only have to be at the arena for their scheduled times. During the breaks athletes are able to stay at the arena but are not expected to stay at the arena all day/evening.

Lunches will not be provided during the camp so please plan accordingly.

  • Do the kids need to leave for the 90 minute lunch or will there be supervision at the rink at this time?

They do not have to leave the arena. There will be an athletes lounge set up at the PSAV room but dedicated supervisors will not be provided.

  • How long are their breaks and can they leave during that time?

They vary depending on the day, group and scheduled activities. Athletes are encouraged to get out of the arena between activities to provide a mental break from the camp.

  • Are there rules on what snacks not to bring?

There are no restrictions on what snacks to bring. Please do not share any personal snacks with other camp

  • How many times a day should they expect to be on the ice?

Each group will have 2 ice sessions per day. The female group will have their fitness testing on Thursday, the male groups will have their fitness testing on Friday.

  • What kind of activity will they be doing when not on the ice?

Brad McNamara will be leading each group through functional movement, core fitness, warm-up & cool down sessions.

  • Are parents allowed to watch the on-ice sessions?

Absolutely!!
