Celebrating Northern Hockey Moms

Jan. 04, 2026

Behind every early morning practice, every long winter drive, and every frozen arena bench sits the quiet strength of a Northern Hockey Mom.

On January 9, 2026, during the Team NT Arctic Winter Games Trials, we are proud to celebrate National Hockey Mom Day and recognize the incredible women who make hockey possible across the Northwest Territories.

Northern Hockey Moms are resilient, strong, brave, supportive, and deeply dedicated. They are early risers, trusted drivers, tireless supporters, and often the calm anchor in busy seasons filled with travel, teamwork, and cold rink air. Their commitment goes far beyond the game, shaping confident athletes and stronger communities.

To mark the day, we are inviting Hockey Moms to be part of the celebration. The first ten Hockey Moms who email a photo of themselves with their hockey player, along with a short caption, to media@hockeynorth.ca will receive a Northern Hockey Mom sticker and a #WeAreAllTeamNT pin. These photos will be shared on our platforms on National Hockey Mom Day as a small but meaningful thank you.

This initiative is about recognition, gratitude, and connection. It is about acknowledging the heart behind the helmet, the support behind every shift, and the love that keeps Northern hockey moving forward.

Thank you to all Hockey Moms for everything you do, on the road, at the rink, and at home. You are Team NT.
