Hockey NWT Now Accepting Coach Applications for the 2026 Arctic Winter Games

Hockey NWT is excited to announce that applications are now open for coaches interested in leading Team NT at the 2026 Arctic Winter Games (AWG) in Whitehorse, Yukon, March 8-15, 2026.

We are looking for passionate and committed coaches to join our U15 Male, U18 Male, and U19 Female teams as they prepare to represent the Northwest Territories on one of the biggest youth sport stages in the circumpolar world.

What We’re Looking For

Coaches must either have, or commit to obtaining, Hockey Canada NCCP Development 1 certification prior to the Games. In addition, applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, a commitment to athlete development, and the ability to foster teamwork in a competitive environment.

Application Requirements

Applicants must include the following with their submission:

  • A detailed hockey résumé

  • Documentation of coaching qualifications from The Locker or HCR

  • A letter of reference from a hockey association or similar

  • A current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

  • A declaration of any pending complaints or disciplinary actions

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: September 15, 2025 (11:59 PM)

  • Territorial Trials: January 7-11, 2026

  • 2026 Arctic Winter Games: March 8-15, 2026 (Whitehorse, Yukon)

This is more than just a coaching role, it is an opportunity to shape athletes’ lives, represent the Northwest Territories, and contribute to the legacy of sport in our Territory.
