Celebrating Excellence in NWT Hockey

The hockey community in the Northwest Territories is proud to celebrate two outstanding individuals who were honoured at the 2025 Sport North Awards.

Kaylee Grant received the Ruth Inch Memorial Contributor to Sport Award, recognizing her incredible commitment behind the scenes. Kaylee’s tireless work, leadership, and mentorship have made a lasting impact across our territory. From supporting athlete development to strengthening Safe Sport practices, she continues to elevate hockey and sport in the North through her unwavering dedication.

Mario Hernandez-Mellin was named Sport North’s Athlete of the Year, a recognition of his remarkable athletic journey. With standout performances, strong leadership, and relentless effort, Mario has become an inspiring figure for young athletes across the territory. His success is a reflection of not only talent, but discipline, community spirit, and a deep love for the game.
