March 2024 - Exciting news for Team NT as former players Annie King and Anna MacCara prepare to face off at the U Sports National Championships in hockey! Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, leading their respective teams to victory in their conference championships.
Annie King, representing the Alberta Pandas, recently clinched the Canada West Championship with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win against the UBC Thunderbirds on March 7th. King’s performance was instrumental in securing the title, showcasing her talent on the national stage.
On the other side, Anna MacCara, the captain of the St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) team from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, led her squad to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the University of New Brunswick (UNB). This win is particularly significant for StFX, as they had faced UNB in the AUS finals for the past three years and were determined to break that streak.
The U Sports National Championships are set to begin on March 20th, hosted by the Waterloo Warriors. This prestigious tournament will feature top teams from across the country, including the University of Toronto and Waterloo, who are currently competing for the OUA Championship. Both teams will secure their spots at nationals, with Waterloo serving as the host.
